Family members of a Mayiladuthurai fisherman who was injured allegedly in a firing in Saudi Arabia while fishing recently have petitioned the district administration seeking assistance in his early repatriation.
The injured fisherman, Sankar of Keezhamoovarkarai village in the district, is stated to be undergoing treatment in Saudi Arabia. Mr. Sankar was part of a group of four fishermen that was fishing in Saudi Arabia last week. One of the fishermen identified as P. Maveeran of Thoduvai was killed in the firing.
Sources said Mr. Sankar’s wife and family members submitted a petition to the district administration during the weekly grievance redress at the Collectorate on Monday seeking his early repatriation and providing him with necessary treatment in that country till such time.
