The Fourth Additional Chief Judicial Magistrate Court on Monday dismissed a case against seven CPI(M) and CITU leaders over a protest at Maddilapalem Junction in 2020, the CPI(M) stated in a release.

The case was filed by the MVP police, alleging that the leaders obstructed traffic and interfered with police duties during a demonstration in backing of farmers protesting in Delhi. The accused included CPI(M) senior leader Ch. Narsingarao, district secretariat members B. Gangarao, R.K.S.V. Kumar, and P. Mani, district committee member Botta Eswaramma, and Maddilapalem zone committee member K. Kumari.

CPI(M) leaders welcomed the verdict, describing the case as false and saying the police had failed to produce proper evidence. The party thanked Judge K. Vasudeva Rao and advocate K.A.J. Poornima for representing the accused.
