Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Monday inaugurated the ninth two-day National Security Strategies Conference-2026, here to discuss key national security problems, including detection and deportation of illegal migrants, a policy framework to combat cyber crime, and proxy warfare by Pakistan.
According to a statement by a Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) spokesperson, discussions on the first day focused on key national security problems, including counter-terrorism challenges, fusion, analysis and operationalisation of intelligence through the Multi-Agency Centre (MAC), a vision document on narcotics control, detection and deportation of illegal migrants, a policy framework to combat cyber crime, and proxy warfare by Pakistan.
During discussion, Shah has additionally directed that AI-based analysis of information available on MAC platforms be carried out to create standard operating procedures to counter various national security challenges, the spokesperson stated.
Shah further directed all agencies to take strict measures against infiltration, the spokesperson continued.
Notably, the second day of the conference will focus on the threat landscape from sub-aerial systems and countermeasures, securing the blue economy, information warfare and its implications for national security, and the need for a bio-security framework, the spokesperson highlighted.
Notably, the conference, being held in hybrid format, was attended by more than 850 participants from nationwide. Ministers of State for Home Affairs, the Union Home Secretary, Deputy National Security Advisers and heads of Central Armed Police Forces and Central Police Organisations attended the conference in Delhi.
Meanwhile, Directors General of Police of states and Union Territories, young police officers working at the cutting-edge level and domain experts from specialised fields joined virtually.
Notably, the National Security Strategies Conference has been held every year since 2021. Its objective is to find solutions to major national security challenges by drawing on the experience of officers working at the grassroots level in collaboration with domain experts.
