Emergency services raced to the collision involving a silver MG and a black BMW S1000 RS motorcycle on the A857 Ness to Stornoway road near to New Park, Newmarket, at 4.40pm on Saturday, August 22. Crews attended and the 56-year-old male rider was taken to Western Isles Hospital, where he sadly died.

His family are aware. Police Scotland has since named him as Roland Crichton, from the Isle of Mull.

There were no other injuries documented. The 44-year-old male driver has been arrested in connection.
