KARACHI: Police have registered a case against "around 100 demonstrators" accused of blocking a track for Sharea Faisal – Karachi's main artery – during a protest held in connection with the Mir Raza Ali murder case, it emerged on Friday.

Ali, a 25-year-old Karachi-based businessman, was discovered dead with a gunshot wound in Gulistan-I-Jauhar last month, a day after he was noted missing on July 28. The case has been mired in controversy with Ali's family raising questions regarding its investigation and accusing authorities of trying to bury the facts.

Previously, police additionally tried to build the case around the possibility of suicide. But when the Karachi police surgeon pointed out loopholes in the autopsy and a second post-mortem of Ali's body made public that he had suffered multiple injuries and was shot in the back, that possibility was ruled out.
