Speaking on local news channel, Aqib Javed remarked the selection committee was prepared to take responsibility for selecting the squad, but decisions regarding the playing XI and team combination during the series rested with the captain and head coach. He remarked the selectors had chosen a 17-member squad on merit and past performances, but the required team combination was not being employed during the tour.

Aqib made public that he had spoken to Babar and Sarfaraz before the second Test and suggested including fast bowler Ubaid Shah to bring more variety to the pace attack. Nevertheless, the suggestion was not implemented.
