For context, the decline came despite a solid rise in furnace oil sales. It rose more than four times from a year earlier and 26 percent from July. The growth was attributed to higher furnace oil demand against the backdrop of LNG shortages and rose load shedding in Punjab.

Excluding furnace oil, OMC sales fell 9 percent YoY and 23 percent MoM to 1.2 million tons in August. While sales excluding furnace oil rose 7 percent to 2.7 million tons, sales during the first two months of fiscal year 2027 stood at 2.8 million tons, up 10 percent from the same period a year earlier.

While high-speed diesel sales dropped 19 percent YoY and 32 percent MoM to 422, 000 tons, petrol sales fell 1 percent YoY and 9 percent MoM to 666, 000 tons.

Fuel rates rose sharply during the month. Motor spirit averaged around Rs. 334 per liter in August, up 26 percent from a year earlier and 6 percent from July. High speed diesel averaged around Rs. 379 per liter, representing increases of 36 percent YoY and 11 percent MoM. SBP Dollar Purchases Hits Lowest Level In 16 Months.

Among listed firms, Attock Petroleum recorded sales of 121, 000 tons in August, up 8 percent YoY but down 5 percent MoM. Its market share rose by 119 basis points to 9.61 percent.

Pakistan State Oil sales rose 4 percent YoY but fell 19 percent MoM to 570, 000 tons. Its market share declined by 131 basis points to 45.21 percent, mainly since of a sharp drop in its furnace oil sales. PSO sold only 23 tons of furnace oil during the month.

Hascol Petroleum sales fell 16 percent YoY and 16 percent MoM to 35, 000 tons, making it the only listed firm among those highlighted to record a YoY decline. Stay Connected with ProPakistani.
