MUZAFFARABAD: Azad Jam­mu and Kashmir (AJK) Prime Min­ister Iftikhar Gillani on Wednesday directed the bureaucracy to gear up for implementation of the government's 100-day reform agenda, saying his foremost priority was to introduce systemic reforms to ease the difficulties of the common man and create new opportunities.

Speaking at his first session with administration secretaries at the Prime Minister's Secretariat, Mr Gillani noted his administration had come to serve the individuals and its performance would be visible "on the ground".

"Our foremost priority is to bring reforms to the system, create ease for the common man and generate new opportunities, " he remarked, adding that the administration would address the challenges facing the state with the cooperation of the bureaucracy.

He remarked the administrative mach­inery had notable responsibilities in translating administration policies into tangible results and stres­sed the need for collective efforts.

"The success of any administration largely depends on the efficiency, commitment and sense of responsibility of its administrative machinery. I expect the AJK bureaucracy to work with dedication and a sense of urgency to implement the reform agenda in letter and spirit, " he remarked.

He remarked unemployment was a major challenge in the state and unveiled intends to introduce a youth engagement programme and demand-based skills development programmes in the social sector.

He additionally promised relief to residents in transport and healthcare services, saying measures would be taken on a priority basis to reduce their difficulties.
