The Greater Hyderabad Society for Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and the People for Animals jointly rescued five cobras from the Old City. It were being held captive and shown around for capital on the occasion of Naga Panchami on Monday.
Three of the five snakes were rescued from Shalibanda, and two from Moghalpura, a statement informed.
All five rescued cobras were taken for medical examination and treatment during which two cobras were found fit for release, while two more required concerning 10 days of medical support and observation. One cobra, however, is in critical condition and receiving necessary treatment, the statement stated.
The snakes will be released into their natural habitat after proper veterinary assessment, it said. A total 35 volunteers participated in the rescue and awareness operations across the city.
