All Pakistan Goods Transporters' Alliance President Malik Shehzad Awan has criticised the federal administration over repeated petroleum rate increases and cautioned of protests if agreements with transporters are not implemented.

In an official note, Awan remarked frequent changes in diesel and petrol costs were putting pressure on the transport sector and the wider economy.

He remarked residents were facing a daily "diesel and petrol bomb" while businesses were suffering and unemployment was rising.

He continued that transporters did not want to announce freight increases every day as of fuel cost volatility.

Awan pressed the petroleum minister to review the government's pricing policy, warning that the current approach could create more difficulties for the administration.

He recalled that during the August nationwide strike, the petroleum minister had assured transporters that fuel rates would not change on a daily basis.
