Meanwhile, the attacker has since been detained, according to the local governor's office.

CCTV footage posted online appeared to show a male on a street near the school carrying a firearm, with other clips apparently showing him fleeing still carrying the weapon. The motive behind the attack was not immediately clear.

It remarked that three national investigators from the ministry had been sent to Manisa.
