Therme Manchester is due to be complete by 2028 and will have everything from huge swimming pools, waterslides and even beaches.
According to The Therme Group has, they have reached their first milestone of 12 tower cranes being built.
What happened
On social media it continued: “Over the coming months, these cranes will play a key role in bringing our vision to life. Creating an amazing destination where wellbeing, relaxation and fun come together.
“This is just the beginning. Stay tuned as we continue to build something extraordinary!”
One excited person commented: “Wow!!! Can’t wait!! We are watching the process everyday when we pass.”
Another added: “Can’t wait, no more going to Germany to the amazing spa.”
The details
The £500m resort will be set across 28 acres making it the “largest water-based wellbeing destination in Europe.”
Inside the resort, visitors can expect a large-scale waterpark with more than 25 waterslides as well as a wave pool.
It will be heated to 33C and will have lots of spa and wellness facilities that will be split into three distinct zones called Play, Relax and Restore.
As well as a a warm water pool, steam rooms, saunas as well as lounging and family dining experiences, the Play zone will focus on ‘next-generation’ water fun.
Why it matters
This zone will also have an outdoor beach.
In the Relax zone – which will be adults-only – there will be a “focus on premium wellbeing experiences” as well as indoor and outdoor pools, waterfall showers, mineral baths, steam rooms, saunas and casual dining.
Finally, in the Restore Zone – the second adults-only area – there will be “industry leading health, nutrition and wellbeing therapies”, “sauna rituals”, experience showers, wellbeing consultations and dining.
Therme Manchester is due to become “UK’s largest paid-for tourist attraction” and see just over three million people each year.
Background
This will be the first Therme site in the UK, joining one in Erding, Germany and one in Bucharest, Romania.
