The packed bus was travelling from Karimnagar towards Jagtial when the accident occurred on the Karimnagar-Jagtial main road, resulting in a traffic jam stretching for over a kilometre, sources said.
The bus driver was trapped in the cabin after the collision between the two vehicles on the busy highway.
The injured driver and nearly 20 passengers were rushed to the Administration General Hospital in Jagtial,
Around 20 passengers were injured, five of them seriously. Five of the injured reportedly suffered multiple fractures.
Meanwhile, Bandi Sanjay, Union Minister of State for Home Affairs, expressed shock over the incident. He asked the officials concerned to ensure proper medical treatment for the injured and take concrete steps to prevent recurrence of such accidents.
