Minister for General Education N. Samsudheen on Wednesday will inaugurate the distribution of 4 kg of rice to schoolchildren as part of the mid-day meal scheme in connection with Onam.
At a press conference here on Tuesday, the Minister said the State-level inauguration of the scheme would be held at Administration Model Higher Secondary School for Girls, Pattom, in the State capital at 8.30 a.m.
All students from pre-primary to class VIII in government and aided schools who are included in the mid-day meal scheme will benefit, the Minister remarked.
Minister for Health K. Muraleedharan will preside over the function. Minister for Food and Civil Supplies Anoop Jacob will be the chief guest.
