Hyderabad-based CSIR-Indian Institute of Chemical Technology (CSIR-IICT) and Re Sustainability Limited, a leading provider of integrated environmental and sustainability solutions, signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) on Monday to collaborate on advanced research, technology development, scale-up, and commercialisation of sustainable environmental solutions.

The partnership brings together the scientific expertise of CSIR-IICT, a premier laboratory under the Council of Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR), and Re Sustainability’s more than three decades of experience in environmental infrastructure, circular economy solutions, waste management, resource recovery, and industrial sustainability.

Together, the two organisations aim to accelerate the development and deployment of innovative technologies that address critical environmental challenges while supporting India’s transition to a resource-efficient, low-carbon and circular economy.

Under the partnership, the organisations will jointly pursue research, technology development, pilot-scale validation, and commercialisation across a number of strategic areas, including chemical and advanced recycling of plastic waste, waste-to-value technologies and resource recovery, sustainable materials and circular economy solutions, bio-based and green chemical processes, industrial wastewater treatment and environmental remediation, and carbon capture, utilization and decarbonization technologies.

The MoU was signed by CSIR-IICT director D. Srinivas Reddy and Re Sustainability CEO and managing director Masood Mallick. “We are creating a platform to develop and commercialise transformative technologies that will shape the future of waste management, circular economy, resource recovery, and climate action, delivering measurable impact for industries, communities and future generations,” said Mr. Mallick in a press release.
