Bombay, August 18: Her Highness the Maharanee Gaekwar of Baroda opened this evening the Exhibition of Old Indian Paintings and Textiles in the Town Hall, the exhibition being organised by the newly formed society for the encouragement of Indian art in Bombay. The organisers have succeeded in collecting a variety of Indian paintings ranging from the second century B.C. down to early 19th century. The collection of old textiles is also of a varied character and excellent in their designs, testifying to the wonderful workmanship of Indian looms and art now almost dead. A feature of the Exhibition is the series of illustrations of India’s two great epics lent by the Baroda Museum.

These beautiful pictures which Mr. S. Ganguly, Curator, Baroda Museum, was successful in acquiring are signed paintings by different artists revealing various conventions, methods and styles in vogue at the Court of Akbar.
