Kanniyakumari District Collector M. Prathap flagged off the intensified Information, Education and Communication campaign and HIV/AIDS awareness rally, organised by the Health and Family Welfare Department, here on Friday.

Speaking at the event Mr. According to Prathap, the campaign aimed to create greater awareness among the public concerning HIV/AIDS and encourage individuals to undergo HIV testing.

He continued that HIV/AIDS counselling and testing centres including, Integrated Counselling and Testing Centres (ICTC) were available at Kanniyakumari Administration Medical College Hospital (KKGMCH) in Asaripallam, taluk headquarters hospitals, administration hospitals, Primary Health Centres (PHC), private hospitals and mobile ICTCs.

According to The Collector further, proper understanding and awareness concerning AIDS and HIV is the best way to control the diseases, and the affected victims must be treated without any discrimination in the society. He pressed the public to produce employ of the testing and counselling provided at PHCs and administration hospitals.
