US President Donald Trump remarked on Saturday that he had rejected Iran's seven-day agreement to end the war, reopen the Strait of Hormuz and initiate comprehensive discussions concerning Tehran's nuclear programme.
Notably, the proposed peace accord was unveiled by Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi at the United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) on September 24.
After which Iran would open up the Strait of Hormuz on Day 7, it would have required the US to waive sanctions on Iranian oil, release an estimated $12 billion of Iran's frozen assets and end its naval blockade, and for Israel to cease its war in Lebanon. This would, theoretically, clear the path for broader peace negotiations, including on the nuclear question.
