The Atmakur police arrested a 56-year-old man in SPSR Nellore district on Sunday in connection with an alleged house burglary and recovered 11 sovereigns (approximately 88 grams) of gold jewellery and over ₹1.80 lakh in cash.

Acting on the orders of District Superintendent of Police (SP) Ajitha Vejendla, a special team was constituted to investigate the theft case. Under the supervision of Additional SP (Admin) Ch. Sowjanya and Atmakur Sub-Divisional Police Officer (SDPO) M. Giridhar Rao, the team successfully solved the case.

The accused was identified as Vijjunapu Veerraju, a resident of Nellorepalem village in Atmakur mandal. This person was working as a home care attendant at the victims’ residence. He allegedly committed the theft due to financial difficulties after learning where the gold jewellery and cash were kept.

The SP commended Circle Inspector (CI) G. Gangadhara Rao, Sub-Inspector (SI) Jampani Kumar, and their team for solving the case and recovering the stolen property.
