Meanwhile, the former captains triggered concern after the Supreme Court ordered on August 18 that Khan be transferred from Adiala Jail to Shifa International Hospital for examination and treatment. Nevertheless, he was instead taken to PIMS, where doctors from Shifa International Hospital were additionally present.

For context, the former captains remarked Khan remained at the hospital for only a few hours before being returned to jail. They pressed the medical board directed by the Supreme Court, including Khan's personal doctors and his sister Dr. Uzma Khan, to be allowed to complete a full assessment.

They additionally called on an independent medical examination, particularly regarding the documented loss of vision in Khan's right eye, uninterrupted weekly family visits and immediate implementation of any treatment recommended by the medical board.
