Union Minister of State for Home Affairs Bandi Sanjay on Tuesday described Sardar Sarvai Papanna as a fearless warrior who challenged the Mughal rulers and fought for the oppressed and disadvantaged sections.
Inspired by Papanna’s struggle, the BJP would come to power in Telangana to champion the cause of Bahujans, he said, accusing the ruling Congress of betraying the Bahujan community by failing to fulfil its promises, including allocating ₹20,000 crore annually for BC welfare, and providing legal status to the BC Sub-Plan.
He was speaking after garlanding the statue of Sardar Sarvai Papanna on the occasion of his birth anniversary at Rekurthi in Karimnagar on Tuesday evening.
Mr. Sanjay said the Narendra Modi administration was committed to the development, welfare and empowerment of Bahujans.
“The implementation of schemes such as PM-YASASVI, PM Vishwakarma, and PM SVANidhi for the welfare of students, traditional artisans, street vendors and others was a testimony to the Modi government’s commitment to uplifting Bahujans,” he added.
Afterwards, he laid foundation stones for various development works in Lakshmipur and Malkapur areas of the 16th Division of Karimnagar Municipal Corporation (MCK).
He said the municipal corporation has decided to provide free electricity to all Ganesh pandals within its limits during the forthcoming Ganesh Chaturthi celebrations.
Mr. Sanjay said the Centre had lately sanctioned ₹840 crore under the Urban Challenge Fund (UCF) for taking up various development works in Karimnagar.
