Politicians, officers and intellectuals recalled the contributions of former Chief Minister D. Devaraj Urs at a programme organised to celebrate his 111th birth anniversary in Shivamogga on Thursday.

C.S. Chandrabhoopal, president of the Guarantee Schemes Implementation Authority, Shivamogga district, remarked Urs's contributions to society would remain forever. The policy of ensuring land to the tiller was historic, he remarked, and brought concerning significant change in the lives of lakhs of individuals. Urs offered voice to the voiceless and ensured social justice for the deprived sections of society, he stated.
