PV Sindhu begins her match with some big smashes against Sophia Nobel.
Sindhu is one of the favourites in this tournament, and is coming into the competition with renewed form.
She is dominating the exchanges so far, hitting sizeable smashes from the third court, and has already taken a 7-0 lead in the first game.

“It was not straightforward today. But I tried to stay calm. I think it’s getting better. I am getting better physically. I hope to get better in the next match.
“A little pain (in terms of jumps), but I tried to secure into rhythm back. I hope to return to great rhythm.
“I need more recovery, my ankle. It’s getting better,” she said.

Absolutely dominating win from Treesa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand in their opening game of the Badminton World Championships.
They win the opening game 21-9 against Spanish opponents.
The match begun with them dominating with their smashes, and slowly they dominated at the net as well.
Spain’s Lopez and Rodriguez had no answers, but found a little bit of space on the forehand side to extract a few points.
They will have to do a lot more to challenge Jolly and Gopichand in the second game.
