After a decades-long run dishing up chicken and waffles, an Oakland staple is closing its doors for good. Home of Chicken and Waffles confirmed the closure on its website telling guests its last day to scarf down a plate will be on August 31.

Johnson informed SF Gate he is Very happy and excited about. After 23 years, I want out of the restaurant business. I'm just ready to move on.
