The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has directed owners, occupiers and managements of all rooftop restaurants, cafes and other commercial or business activities operating on rooftops within Islamabad to get their premises regularised in accordance with the approved Rooftop Policy and applicable regulations.

As amended in 2023, the directive has been issued by the CDA Building & Housing Control Wing in the interest of public safety and in pursuance of the Islamabad Capital Territory Building Control Regulations 2020.

The notice applies to rooftop businesses operating throughout the CDA jurisdiction, including sectoral areas and housing societies of Islamabad. According to the public notice, all concerned businesses have been given 15 days from the date of publication of the notice to complete the regularisation process and obtain the necessary approvals and permissions from the competent authority.

The CDA has advised rooftop business owners and managements to ensure compliance within the stipulated period. The authority has warned that after expiry of the 15-day deadline, any rooftop business identified operating without the required approval or regularisation will face enforcement action.

The measures include immediate sealing of the premises or business activity, along with the imposition of applicable fines and penalties.The CDA Building & Housing Control Wing has directed all concerned to treat the matter as urgent and complete the regularisation process within the prescribed timeframe to avoid enforcement action.
