Census 2027: 61% completion achieved in Coimbatore Corporation limits

The Census 2027 drive has been completed with respect to 61 per cent as of August 17 within the Coimbatore Corporation limits, and efforts are under way to complete the remaining 39 per cent of the work.

The first phase focused on house listing — housing conditions and amenities. The residents whose houses have not been visited by the Census officials could contact the Nodal Officers in the after numbers: West Zone: 0422-2551700, 73959-22972; Central Zone: 0422-24709525, 78719-81000; North Zone: 0422-2243133, 99435-35360; East Zone: 0422-277217, 89259-75389, and South Zone: 0422-22527025, 29259-75904.

The enumerators will wear the identity cards issued by the Corporation and will seek details such as number of members in the family, address, nature of walls, roof, drinking water source and other amenities. These details will be kept confidential and will be used for drafting welfare schemes and city development aims.
