CM Revanth opens MCR TIMS Sanathnagar with focus on affordable, quality healthcare

A dedicated director would be appointed for each hospital to oversee its functioning and ensure the institutions were managed on a par with corporate hospitals, Mr. Reddy said.

He also stated doctors who put in additional time at administration hospitals should be recognised and incentivised to encourage specialists to devote more quality time to patients in the public healthcare system.

Health Minister C. Damodar Raja Narasimha said MCR TIMS Sanathnagar was not merely a hospital but a major institution aimed at strengthening Telangana’s public healthcare system.

Built at a cost of ₹1,126 crore, the hospital has a built-up area of 11.68 lakh sq ft and 1,082 beds across 37 medical departments, including 300 ICU beds, 88 emergency beds, 30 dialysis beds, 400 general beds and 100 beds earmarked for medical tourism.

“MCR TIMS will be developed as a Centre of Excellence in cardiac, renal, transplant and trauma sciences. The facility would combine advanced infrastructure and technology with the expertise of specialist doctors and surgeons already working in the public sector,” Mr. Narasimha said.

He urged doctors, nurses and other staff at MCR TIMS to build a robust reputation for the institution by treating every patient with respect, responding promptly to emergencies and dealing with families with a humane approach.

“No patient should feel that they would not receive quality medical care simply because they have come to a government hospital,” he said.

Deputy Chief Minister Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka said the administration had been giving special attention to strengthening the public healthcare sector. He said the hospital, named after former Chief Minister Marri Chenna Reddy, would serve as a “modern temple of healthcare” and provide free medical services to lakhs in Telangana.

Mr. Vikramarka criticised the previous BRS government, saying only ₹70 crore had been spent on construction of the TIMS Sanathnagar Super-Speciality Hospital during its tenure.

While the present government had already issued ₹845 crore, he said, the total construction cost of the hospital was around ₹1,126 crore. He said it was inappropriate for the previous administration to claim credit for the entire project having spent only ₹70 crore.
