CHANDIGARH: The Punjab Congress has begun preparations for the 2027 Assembly elections, with its newly constituted Manifesto Committee deciding to create the party's election manifesto a "people's manifesto" by seeking suggestions and demands from all sections of society throughout the state.

Meanwhile, the first session of the Manifesto Committee appointed by the All India Congress Committee was held here today. The session was attended by Chairman of the Committee Dr Amar Singh, Member of Parliament from Fatehgarh Sahib, Amritsar Member of Parliament Gurjeet Singh Aujla, former Punjab minister Pargat Singh and Hardial Singh Kambhoj.

For context, the committee held detailed discussions on the process of preparing the manifesto and emphasised that it should be a genuine reflection of the aspirations, reservations and priorities of Punjabis rather than being formulated solely within the party organisation.

It was decided that the committee would travel extensively throughout Punjab over the next few days and hold consultations with a broad set of stakeholders before drafting the final document.
