Women eligible for monthly assistance of ₹2,500 under the Delhi Lakshmi Yojana will start receiving official letters from the government on August 27, with the amount set to be credited to their bank accounts from September 1, read a statement issued by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta on Tuesday.
According to the statement, Ms. Gupta directed the district committees to complete the verification of applications at the earliest.
She also stated the government would shortly introduce a facility on the official portal of the scheme to allow eligible women who entered incorrect or incomplete information in their applications to make corrections.
The Chief Minister noted around 8 lakh women have registered on the portal within 18 days of the scheme’s launch and more than 5 lakh applications have been submitted so far
“The unprecedented support received from women in Delhi in such a short period is historic. No government scheme had received such a level of public response in such a short time. This is a record in itself and these figures reflect the growing trust of women in the scheme for women’s empowerment,” she said
On August 1, the Chief Minister opened registrations for the scheme, under which eligible women aged 21 to 60 will receive monthly assistance of ₹2,500. Applicants must obtain an endorsement letter from the MLA or MP of their constituency. Only one woman from each family is eligible.
