Guest lecture

The Department of English, Theni Kammavar Sangam College of Arts and Science, organised its department inauguration and a guest lecture on ‘Refocusing the Literary Classroom: From Scattered Ideas to Scholarly Exchange’.

Head, Department of English, K. Archana presided. Student S. Nandhini welcomed. Principal R.S. Vetrivel was present.

Assistant Professor and Head, Department of English, Cardamom Planters’ Association College, C. Palanivelrajan inaugurated and stressed the role of literature in developing critical thinking, communication skills, creativity and social awareness.

Student R. Shobika proposed a vote of thanks.

Technical conclave

Kalasalingam University in association with the IEEE Madras Section, organised a two-day technical conclave on ‘AI for Sustainable Energy System Development’.

Vice-president S. Shasi Anand presided. Chair, SAC, IEEE Madras Section, and principal, RMK Engineering College, S. Koteeswaran inaugurated.

Director, Circle K Fuel Cards, London, Sadhes Radhakrishnan delivered a special address on ‘Data Engineering for the GenAI Era’. Keynote sessions were held by P. Sakthivel, S. Bridha, S. Radha and M. Venkatesh Kumar of IEEE Madras Section.

A workshop on ‘Agentic AI: Building Your First AI Assistant’ was conducted by Senthil Raja Marthandan.

Workshop held

The School of Computer Science, Nadar Saraswathi College of Arts and Science, Theni, organised a two-day workshop on ‘IoT for Smart Cities and Sustainable Development’.

Head and Associate Professor, School of Computer Science, K. Sivakami, felicitated. Founder and Director, Abhijith Electronic Solution, Madurai, S. Indumathi, conducted the technical sessions on IoT applications in smart cities and sustainable development.

About 60 students participated and gained practical exposure to IoT concepts and applications.

Football champions

The Under-17 boys’ football team of Syed Ammal Public School (CBSE) won the MSSC Zone-V Sports and Games football tournament organised by Krishna International School (CBSE), Ramanathapuram.

The team, comprising 18 students, won all four rounds to emerge champions. Correspondent, principal and vice-principal congratulated the players and the Physical Education teacher.

MoU signed

Thassim Beevi Abdul Kader College for Women, Kilakarai, through its Department of Microbiology and Training and Placement Cell, signed an MoU with Shammah Academy, Madurai, to promote industry-academia collaboration.

Principal S. Sumaya inaugurated. Director, Shammah Academy, Madurai, Darwin delivered the keynote address.

The collaboration will provide students with training in medical coding and technology-oriented skills, besides placement opportunities and industry exposure.
