A 67-year-old woman who was in a potentially fatal condition after multiple blood clots obstructed blood flow to both her lungs was treated by Prashanth Hospitals, Kolathur.
According to a press release, the patient arrived with severe breathlessness, critically low oxygen levels, and low blood pressure.
The doctors, including Fazil Hussain, Consultant–Interventional Cardiologist, and Deeyaneswar D., Consultant-Interventional Cardiologist, and others performed an advanced catheter-based mechanical thrombectomy and removed the clots without an open surgery, improving blood flow to the lungs and heart function.
Dr. Fazil said, “When clot-busting medication did not adequately clear the obstruction, we had to act swiftly to restore blood flow. Mechanical thrombectomy allowed us to directly remove the clots and reopen the pulmonary arteries without the need for open surgery.”
