Nooka Raju's family jumped into the river Godavari on August 16, citing threat from the accused. The Kakinada police began the probe after registering a case against Khan under various sections of the BNSS.

On the allegation that Khan might have left India, Mr. Kumar has stated, "We have already confiscated his passport. Nevertheless, a look-out notice has been served at airports."

In Rajamahendravaram, the city police are continuing the search for Nooka Raju's wife Meena. This person is still missing and is feared to have additionally drowned.
