Federal Minister for Communications Abdul Aleem Khan has said the Karachi-Hyderabad motorway does not qualify as a motorway in its current condition.
Speaking to the media after holding talks with transporters at the Governor House in Karachi, the minister stated the government would not want to secure involved in disputes over the existing road.
“We do not want to get involved in anything that could lead to a dispute,” the minister said while discussing the condition and status of the Karachi-Hyderabad motorway.
The minister also stated the government had resolved the transporters’ matters that could be addressed immediately.
He added that some of the remaining demands required formal procedures, for which a number of committees had been formed. The relevant formalities would be completed, he said.
The announcement comes as the government looks to improve road connectivity between Karachi and the rest of Sindh through a new motorway project.
