Fishermen directed to stay away from venturing into sea due to rough weather

Following rough weather accompanied by robust winds in the sea, the fishermen from Rameswaram, Pamban and other locations in Ramanathapuram district have been directed to keep away from venturing into the sea until further orders.

Fisheries department officials informed that after the IMD observations, they have advised the fishermen to keep away from fishing until further orders. Due to the highly volatile sea conditions with heavy winds of 40 to 50 km per hour and, in some places it was over 60 km per hour, the fishermen have been advised to keep away until further notification, said on Monday.
