Former Punjab Education Minister Murad Raas has criticized the province’s extended summer holidays, questioning why public and private schools remain closed while Army Public Schools (APS) and Pakistan Air Force (PAF) schools continue to operate.
Raas said Punjab students are facing the “longest summer vacation” he has seen, with schools closed from May 21 and scheduled to reopen on August 24. He questioned the rationale behind keeping children away from education for more than three months.
“Seems like our children are being kept at home away from education intentionally,” Raas said in a post on X, adding that the decision was “beyond comprehension.”
The LONGEST SUMMER VACATION for our kids ever. Schools closed on May 21st and are supposed to open August 24th. Over 3 Months. However, APS and PAF schools are open. No one else is allowed to open. I wonder why? Seems like Our Children are being kept at home away from education…

The Punjab government extended the summer break against the backdrop of severe heatwave conditions and ordered all public and private schools to remain closed. Authorities also cautioned schools against reopening before the official date and said violators could face penalties.
Military-managed institutions, including APS and PAF schools, operate under separate administrative systems, allowing them to follow different arrangements during the summer break.
