The Centre for Liberty has urged the State Administration and the Andhra Pradesh Capital Region Development Authority (APCRDA) to resolve the land dispute affecting 33 plot owners at Navluru village of Mangalagiri mandal in Amaravati on Tuesday.

A team of the Centre for Liberty, led by retired IPS officer A.B. Venkateswara Rao, visited the village and examined the issue. Mr. Rao claimed the lands had originally been assigned to farmers during the British period. He alleged that the lands were recorded as tank Poramboke in 1907 and subsequently divided into seven subdivisions in 1925, including one classified as Vagu Poramboke.

The beneficiaries later obtained permission from the village panchayat for a layout and sold the developed plots, Mr. Rao claimed. However, the State administration included the lands in the 22A prohibited properties list in 2007. The beneficiaries subsequently approached the courts, and the legal dispute has been continuing, he added.

Mr. According to Rao, in 2017, the Guntur District Collector alienated the assigned lands to the APCRDA, treating them as administration land. The APCRDA has since taken up construction of the N3(B) road through the area, affecting 33 plots, making an immediate resolution necessary, he claimed.

He went on that the district Collector had assured the affected owners that the issue would be addressed.

Revenue office-holders, however, noted the lands formed part of the APCRDA’s trunk infrastructure development plans. They said the Administration was considering allotting alternative lands to the affected plot owners.
