Of the 227 Indian nationals recruited into the Russian armed forces, 139 have been discharged while 51 have died, Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri remarked, underlining that New Delhi remains in constant discussions with Moscow for the release and repatriation of those who remain.
"We had information regarding 227 Indian nationals who had been recruited into the Russian army. Out of that, 139 of our nationals have been discharged. Unfortunately, we have information regarding 51 residents who have perished so far, " Misri noted.
