Iran has confirmed a $30,000 reward for anyone who captures or kills US military personnel and hands them over to Iranian authorities.
Hatami said the plan was prepared after requests from many residents. As the report notes, he said anyone who captures or kills a US soldier and hands them over to Iranian authorities would receive $30,000, equivalent to 5 billion Iranian tomans.
Foreign media reports have said there is no known regular deployment of US ground forces in Iran. However, US personnel reportedly entered the country in April as part of a recovery operation after the crash of an American aircraft.
The announcement comes amid heightened tensions between Iran and the United States and further underscores Tehran’s warnings against any US military presence in the region.
