Under the agreement, Japan will provide a grant of JPY 2.58 billion, equivalent to approximately $16.4 million. The funds will be applied for work on the Old Abad Bund in Larkana. It is located along the right bank of the Indus River.

Kidwai thanked the Japanese administration and residents for their continued development assistance and backing for Pakistan's socio-economic development.

He additionally recognized Japan's longstanding role as a development partner and JICA's technical expertise and continued engagement with Pakistan throughout various sectors.

Japanese Ambassador Akamatsu reaffirmed his government's commitment to working with Pakistan to strengthen bilateral relations and cooperation. He remarked Japan would continue to backing efforts aimed at deepening cooperation between the two countries.
