The State government on Monday withdrew the Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences (Amendment) Bill, 2018, in the Legislative Assembly.
Medical Education Minister Sharan Prakash Patil informed The Hindu that the 2018 Bill was withdrawn as the government was in the process of formulating a comprehensive Bill related to RGUHS.
It is learnt that the 2018 Bill had sought to amend the relevant clause of the legislation to provide for the appointment of doctors as Registrars of the university instead of IAS and super-time-scale KAS officers. The Governor had then returned the Bill seeking further clarifications.
