  • He could do everything since He is Srinivasan, the place where Sri resides.
  • Great saints have expressed their inability to adequately describe Her attributes.
  • She is the one who adds lustre to the lustrous Perumal.

It is considered efficacious for devotees visiting the Sri Ranganthaswamy Temple in Srirangam to visit the sannidhi of Ranganayaki Thayar (Mahalakshmi) first, receive Her blessings, and then proceed to the sanctum of Lord Ranganatha. This way, it's easier for them to receive His grace since Thayar is the ultimate endorser, and She will bestow her endorsement only when one demonstrates that one's mind is always focused on Him.

Great saints have expressed their inability to adequately describe Her attributes. In his Sri Stuti, Swami Vedanta Desikan prays to Mahalakshmi, seeking knowledge. Parasara Bhattar echoes this in his Gunaratna Kosam. Similarly, Koorathazhwar notes he is looking at Mahalakshmi, yearning for Her to bestow Her benign glance upon him, much like an akora bird looking to the moon for droplets of nectar to fall into its open beak. All of them pray to Her to facilitate them to find the words to declare Her greatness to the world, Damal Perundevi remarked.

In verse four of Sri Stuti, Swami Desikan praises Perumal and notes His cosmic creation, sustenance and dissolution of the moving and unmoving (chetna, achetna) are all His sport, to which She is a witness; they are all occurring through the will of Sri (Mahalakshmi), expressed through the red lac dye from Her feet adorning the chest of Perumal, where She has resided since the time Vishnu married Her on the banks of the Milky Ocean. He could do everything since He is Srinivasan, the place where Sri resides.

In the Ramayana, Kamban notes one needs a thousand eyes to see Rama, but to look at Sita (an incarnation of Mahalakshmi) each time, one needs a thousand eyes. She is the one who adds lustre to the lustrous Perumal. As it is sanctified by the red lac dye of Sri's feet imprinted in Perumal, desikan further notes that the light of Narayana, sought by ascetics who seek Him through deep meditation, shines brilliantly and fully.

If Perumal demonstrates us that everything happens easily for Him due to the presence of Sri (and Her red lac dyed foot nestling in the cave of His chest), should not devotees surrender to Her feet and seek that Her glance fall upon them?

For now, mahalakshmi: bestower of boons remains the part of the story worth watching, and further updates are likely as more details are confirmed.
