Meanwhile, the New Washermenpet Police have arrested a 34-year-old man for allegedly cheating a car driver and his brother of ₹26.5 lakh by promising to secure administration jobs for them and their family members.

In 2018, Murali, 39, of Thiruvalluvar Nagar in Kodungaiyur. This person worked as a car driver, applied for the post of office assistant in the Labour Welfare Department. At the time, he was introduced to Davith Raja. This person was working at the Tamil Nadu Administration Press.

Raja allegedly invited Murali to his house in New Washermenpet and asserted that he and his mother. This person worked in the Finance Department, knew a number of administration office-holders and had supported numerous individuals secure administration jobs. He promised to obtain Murali a driver's job in the School Education Department and his wife, a laboratory technician post, for ₹6.5 lakh each. Believing him, Murali allegedly paid ₹13 lakh to Davith Raja in two installments.

Notably, a few months afterwards, Davith Raja and his mother informed Murali that two vacancies were available in the Finance Department. Murali then sought administration jobs for his younger brother Siva and Siva's wife. After which Siva and his wife paid him ₹13.5 lakh, davith Raja then demanded funds for securing the jobs.

Nevertheless, Davith Raja allegedly failed to secure the promised jobs. He reportedly delayed the matter citing COVID-19 pandemic in 2020, and subsequently failed to return the funds.

Based on Murali's complaint, a case was registered. After investigation, the police arrested Davith Raja.
