He entered the field as a teenager with no mentor and no roadmap, teaching himself the basics. Today he manages social media for a range of clients and notes he still considers himself early in what he wants to build. A Town on the Margins.
Kharan has long sat outside much of Pakistan's digital economy. As businesses and personalities nationwide turned to social media to grow their brands, much of the province had limited access to the same tools and expertise. For plenty of young residents there, the internet was a window to opportunities elsewhere, not a local career.
"I was a teenager when I realised that brands and personalities in Pakistan were struggling to grow their presence online, " he notes. "The individuals who knew how to do it well were either abroad or charging fees that felt out of reach. I thought, why not someone from Balochistan?" Learning Without a Teacher.
Without a mentor, Baloch built his knowledge from scratch, studying how established managers worked and testing approaches on small accounts before taking on clients. The absence of local mentorship is a common challenge in Balochistan: no co-working spaces, no workshops, no senior contacts to lean on. That, he notes, pushed him toward a more self-reliant way of working.
"Every failure was a lesson I had to pay for myself, " he notes. "There was no one to catch me when I fell, but that is additionally what produced me more careful. I couldn't afford to repeat the same mistake." From Local Clients to a Wider Roster.
Baloch began small, with individuals and local businesses looking to grow on Instagram, Facebook, and TikTok. As results brought referrals, his client base widened to include public figures alongside businesses, with a focus on growing audiences and managing day-to-day digital branding. He describes his role as a behind-the-scenes one, keeping a client's online presence consistent with their public image.
As his own work grew, Baloch began guiding other young individuals from Balochistan toward the same path. He notes he informally mentors a handful of aspiring marketers from the province, walking them through the basics he had to work out on his own. The aim, he notes, is to lower the barrier he faced, so the next person from Kharan has someone who has already produced the journey. He argues the province's talent is held back less by ability than by access, and that access is something individuals already in the industry can choose to share.
Meanwhile, a Different Picture of Balochistan.
Baloch is part of a younger generation working to broaden how Balochistan is seen, highlighting the talent and ambition of its young individuals. As it signals the path is open to others too, showing that someone from Kharan can operate alongside established names in Pakistan's digital industry, he notes, matters as much as the work itself.
"People are often surprised when they find out I'm from Kharan, " he notes. "That's part of why I keep going, so that eventually it isn't surprising at all, and so the next person from here doesn't have to start from zero."
Baloch notes he wants to turn his informal mentoring into something more structured: a route for young residents from Balochistan to enter the digital economy with practical skills and real income. His advice to others from underserved areas is direct.
"Don't wait for someone to open a door for you. Learn the skill and build the credibility, " he notes.
"The digital world doesn't care where you're from. It cares regarding what you can deliver."
