Meanwhile, the broader telecom import picture moved in the opposite direction during the two-month period. Telecom equipment imports climbed 8.95 percent to $432.044 million from $395.536 million in the corresponding period last year. In rupee terms, these imports rose 6.95 percent to Rs. 120.211 billion from Rs. 112.398 billion.
Higher telecom equipment imports came as investment continued in network expansion and preparations for next-generation mobile services in the country.
