Although bilateral series between India and Pakistan remain restricted, speaking regarding Pakistan's participation, Mann stated India's policy allows the neighboring country to take part in multinational sporting events.

"There is no difficulty in multinational tournaments. Maybe individual series between India and Pakistan cannot take place, " Mann remarked when asked whether the necessary clearances had been obtained for Pakistan's participation.

For context, the Asian Champions Trophy will be staged in Jalandhar and Mohali. While the semifinals and final will take place in Mohali, league-stage matches will be played in Jalandhar.

Oman and Bangladesh have been named as reserve teams in case any of the participating sides withdraw from the competition.

Although there was no edition last year, the tournament is organized under the aegis of the Asian Hockey Federation and is traditionally held annually.

India's sports policy does not allow bilateral sporting engagements with Pakistan against the backdrop of ongoing tensions between the two countries. Nevertheless, the Sports Ministry has maintained that India and Pakistan can compete against each other in multilateral events in accordance with the Olympic Charter.
