Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi has confirmed that Pakistan Railways will resume the Babu Passenger Train from August 20 after a six year suspension. The minister said the railway service will return to the tracks after continued demands from passengers and consideration of public needs.
The Babu Passenger Train operates on the Lahore to Lala Musa route and serves several stations along the way. The route includes Badami Bagh, Shahdara Bagh, Kala Shah Kaku, Muridke, Sadhoki, Kamoki, Gujranwala, Wazirabad, Gujrat and Lala Musa.
The railway service remained suspended during the coronavirus pandemic. According to the announcement, the government decided to resume the train after passengers repeatedly demanded its restoration and authorities considered public requirements.
The restoration comes on the directions of Federal Minister for Railways Muhammad Hanif Abbasi. The announcement said the railway service will resume after a gap of six years. The minister said Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif’s vision calls for Pakistan Railways to become more active. He said the administration will increase facilities for passengers as part of efforts to improve railway services.
Abbasi also stated Pakistan Railways will restore more suspended trains during the current year. The Babu Passenger Train will therefore return to service on August 20, giving passengers traveling between Lahore, Lala Musa and the stations along the route access to the restored service.
