5G services have reached around 1.3 million users across 23 cities in Pakistan, with more than 1,200 5G sites activated during the first four months of the rollout. Mobile operators are continuing to expand their networks as they work to bring 5G connectivity to more customers and additional areas.
While mobile operators continue installing 5G infrastructure and activating additional sites, the Ministry of Information Technology and Telecommunication (MoITT) and the Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) are overseeing the expansion.
Operators are continuing work on new sites to extend coverage to more areas, giving customers in additional locations access to next-generation mobile services.
The rollout began after the 5G spectrum auction was held on March 10, 2026. Following the auction, spectrum was allocated to mobile operators, paving the way for the commercial launch and expansion of 5G services in Pakistan.
As part of the expansion plan, mobile operators were given targets for deploying the necessary infrastructure and activating 5G sites. Ministry officials stated work is currently underway to produce additional sites operational, with the expansion anticipated to continue beyond the 23 cities already covered.
The continued rollout is expected to bring high-speed mobile internet to more areas of the country while increasing network capacity and improving connectivity for consumers, businesses and digital services.
