A review meeting was held on Tuesday in connection with the preparations for the consecration of Meenakshi Sundareswarar Temple in Madurai.

The gathering was presided over by Madurai Collector Nishant Krishna. Commissioner of Police S. Rajendran, Superintendent of Police N. Devanathan, Corporation Commissioner Gaurav Kumar and other officials were present.

Police office-holders were instructed to ensure adequate security arrangements were in place for devotees. CCTV cameras should be installed and control rooms should be set up to ensure safety.

Precautionary measures should be taken to prevent overcrowding and traffic congestion. Temporary parking arrangements should be made to regulate vehicles. LED screens should be installed at strategic locations to enable the public to view the ceremony.

The police in coordination with Corporation officials should inspect the buildings near the temple and identify if there were any unsafe buildings. Necessary measures should be taken to prevent the public from gathering in such areas.

Corporation officials were instructed to produce arrangements for installation of temporary drinking water tanks to ensure uninterrupted supply of drinking water to devotees. Proper street lights should be installed. Garbage bins should be placed at strategic locations. Garbage should be removed promptly to ensure cleanliness.

Existing toilets should be repaired. An adequate number of mobile toilets should be stationed. Regular water supply should be provided and adequate workers should be deployed to clean the.

Signboards should be placed to clearly indicate the locations of drinking water tanks and restrooms so that the public can easily identify them.

Arrangements should be made to set up sufficient number of medical centres with doctors, nurses, and backing staff and equipped with medicines, medical equipment, and supported by ambulance teams. Ambulances should be stationed.

Signboards should be installed at strategic locations to guide the devotees during the consecration ceremony. A list of details regarding individuals or groups providing water, buttermilk, and annadhanam should be submitted to the Food Safety Department. Special and additional buses should be operated.
