Balochistan Chief Minister Mir Sarfraz Bugti confirmed on Sunday that a major road in the Duki district will be named after Dr Mahnoor Nasir, a doctor who suffered an acid attack in June, in honour of her "bravery, resilience and services as a medical professional".

Dr Nasir, a 29-year-old female doctor at Quetta's Civil Hospital, was seriously injured in June when a hospital employee allegedly threw acid on her, suffering severe burn injuries to her face, chest, legs and other parts of her body.

Notably, the attacker, afterwards identified by police as Humayun Shah, was stated to have been kil­led in an encounter after law enforcers tra­ced him as he attempted to flee on a bus.

In a post on X, the chief minister lauded the "bravery, courage and sense of duty" displayed by Dr Nasir and remarked that a road in Duki had been renamed after her.
