RSS meet to discuss demographic imbalance, drug abuse among youth

The Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh’s (RSS) three-day All India Coordination Meeting will focus on demographic changes, drug abuse among youth and strengthening coordination among Sangh-inspired organisations, RSS national publicity chief Sunil Ambekar stated on Tuesday (August 18, 2026).

The meeting will be held in Visakhapatnam from August 19 to 21. RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, general secretary Dattatreya Hosabale and other senior functionaries will be present in the meeting.

Around 327 delegates from 32 affiliated organisations, including the Bharatiya Mazdoor Sangh, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad, the Bharatiya Janata Party, the Akhil Bharatiya Vidyarthi Parishad, the Bharatiya Kisan Sangh and the Rashtra Sevika Samiti are anticipated to participate.

Speaking to media, Mr. Ambekar said the gathering was not an executive decision-making forum but an opportunity for organisations to exchange experiences and improve coordination. Current national developments, social changes and emerging challenges would also be reviewed.

“Changing demographic patterns and their wider implications will be discussed, along with measures to address rising drug abuse among young residents. The meeting will consider an action plan for youth de-addiction and wider public awareness on substance abuse,” he stated.

The RSS will also review its “Panch Parivartan” campaign, covering social harmony, an environment-friendly lifestyle, family values, indigenous consciousness and civic duties.

Deliberations will additionally include the organisation’s proposed “Bharatiya Development Model”. It seeks to view development beyond economic growth and encompass progress throughout different spheres of society.

Sources in the Sangh informed that a discussion will also take place on the youth-led protests happening throughout India. ‘Especially the ones took place at Jantar Mantar and Jharkhand,” they said.

The RSS remarked registrations through its “Join RSS” website increased from 57,423 between January and July 2025 to 1,23,287 during the corresponding period in 2026. While nearly 85% were below 40.
